St. Louis, Missouri
Walgreens and St. Louis College of Pharmacy (STLCOP) are committed to providing the PGY1 community-based phar-macy resident with an exceptional postgraduate educational training experience. The purpose of this ASHP and APhA-accredited residency program is to provide the resident with the experience and ability to provide, advance and evaluate patient care services in the community and to enhance teaching skills in both the didactic and experiential environments. Furthermore, Walgreens seeks to enable residents to achieve their professional goals, become a leader within the pro-fession, provide compassionate care for members of their communities, and contribute to the Walgreen Company’s ad-vancement in healthcare.
The main practice site for the resident is a Walgreens pharmacy, located approximately one mile from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy campus. This pharmacy has a separate patient care center—located adjacent to the dispensing pharmacy—that offers unique opportunities to provide patient care in a variety of chronic disease states. The resident will also have the opportunity to gain experience providing advanced specialty care to patients at a Walgreens local specialty pharmacy. This residency also has emphasis on developing skills related to community outreach and professional advo-cacy. Upon completion of this program, the resident will have acquired an advanced skill set and be prepared to assume a leadership role in advancing the profession of pharmacy and community pharmacy practice.
