Advertised Summary Job Description: A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is sought to provide support to participants of a longitudinal research project on Memory, Aging, and Cardiovascular Health. The study recruits racially and ethnically diverse participants with family roots in Washington Heights/Hamilton Heights/Harlem/Inwood. The LCSW will help research participants address unmet medical and social needs. The LCSW will provide support for people with and without memory complaints and/or other medical or psychiatric conditions, as well as challenges to occupational and residential stability. Prevalence of hypertension and diabetes is high in this community, both conditions are often untreated or inadequately controlled, and many participants are under-insured. Some participant are caring for older parents with dementia and connections to support services are needed. The LCSW will also be engaged in some participant and community engagement activities, including communication with our participant advisory board. Ability to communicate in Spanish as well as English is required.
Responsibilities: 1- Assist participants in obtaining social and medical services 2- Complete forms required for referrals 3- Provide individual and family-based counseling and supportive consultations. 4- Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and administrative activities. 5- Give training and presentations regarding social services for at-risk populations. 6- Attend meetings and planning sessions in research activities. 7- Administer standard questionnaires and neuropsychological assessments. 8- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: Must hold a Master Degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited university/college AND a License Master Social Work (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) certificate from the New York State Education Department. In addition, 3 years of related experience. Bilingual in Spanish and English Must possess a current New York State License and Master's in Social Work AND a License in Clinical Social Work.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Bilingual in Spanish and English.
