UF Health Jacksonville is a 695 bed academic medical center located in Jacksonville, Florida. It is part of the UF Health system and functions as the Jacksonville campus for the University of Florida's Health Science Center. The campus is home to North Florida's only Level I Trauma Center, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the Florida Poison Information Center. We also offer a Certified Stroke Program and are home to the UF Proton Beam facility. The hospital has been recognized as a Magnet Hospital and has received the Sterling Award from the Governor of Florida. Our ambulatory care clinics are designated as NCQA patient-centered medical homes with active pharmacist participation. The hospital and ambulatory clinics are fully computerized with an electronic health record (Epic), automated dispensing cabinets, smart pumps, and barcode medication administration. We have more than 100 ICU beds with interdisciplinary practices in medical, surgical, trauma, cardiovascular, cardiothoracic, neurosurgical, neonatal and pediatric intensive care.
Our PGY-2 drug information/patient safety residency program is designed to allow the residency to develop a mastery of knowledge and expert level of competency in drug information practice, therapeutic policy, and medication safety. The residency will be able to concentrate on specific activities that best develop their intended career path and goals. Responsibilities include responding to DI requests, managing the DI service, precepting APPE students, providing extensive support to the P&T Committee and its subcommittees, managing clinical research, managing the formulary, and developing critical literature evaluation skills. Our residency also offers experience in informatics which may include validation of drug libraries and order sets, analysis of drug use reports and/or smart pump data. Medication and patient safety are also a focus with opportunity to evaluate and report adverse drug reactions, medication errors and serve on the hospital Medication Safety Team. A teaching certificate program is available and there is also opportunity to obtain Epic Willow proficiency.
