The St. Vincent’s Pharmacy Residency Program is a twelve month Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) practice experience designed to meet the educational goals outlined by the American Society for Health-systems Pharmacists (ASHP). The program allows the resident to achieve the designated educational objectives by providing a variety of practice activities in a health-system setting. The program fosters the residents’ ability to deliver patient-centered pharmaceutical care, work in multidisciplinary teams, apply leadership skills, exhibit strong verbal and written communication and become a lifelong self-directed learner and service-oriented professional. The program is accredited by ASHP. The educational objectives of the St. Vincent’s PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program are based on the required competency areas, goals, and criteria-based objectives for PGY1 residencies as outlined by ASHP.
Residency applicants must be eligible for employment in the United States, possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy at the time the residency begins, and be eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Alabama. St. Vincent’s Residency Program participates in the ASHP Resident Matching Program. Applications must be submitted through the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS) by January 7, 2019.
