Fred Meyer Pharmacy Residency
Fred Meyer Pharmacy has been involved with Community Pharmacy Practice Residency training since 2006. The program was the first community residency program accredited by ASHP and APhA in the State of Oregon. We are part of the Kroger Family of Pharmacy residencies.
Purpose Statement To build upon the PharmD education and outcomes in order to develop community-based pharmacist practitioners with diverse patient care, leadership, and education skills who are eligible to pursue advanced training opportunities, including PGY2 residencies and professional certifications.
The Fred Meyer Residency program takes place in a corporate community/ambulatory care pharmacy setting. In addition, residents will participate in a series of interdisciplinary experiences at The Vancouver Clinic as well as Washington State University. There is an emphasis on the development, marketing, implementation, and delivery of patient care services in the evolving realm of community practice. Our program has a high level of progressive patient care services in a chain community pharmacy setting with an emphasis on management, business, and leadership components.
Practice Site Descriptions Overview
The residents will primarily work from the Fred Meyer Healthy Options® Patient Care Centers located in Vancouver, Washington. The primary site for the residents is at the Orchards Fred Meyer Pharmacy location and the Fred Meyer Division and District Offices in Portland, Oregon. Although the residency is based out of the locations listed above, the resident will spend time at other Fred Meyer Pharmacy locations, the Washington State College of Pharmacy campus in Spokane, WA, and The Vancouver Clinic in Vancouver, WA.
Fred Meyer is part of the Kroger family of grocery stores; a family-friendly, one-stop shopping store with 132 locations in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Alaska. See service descriptions for more information.
Healthy Options™ Patient Care Centers These centers provide an expanded level of pharmaceutical care to the community. This care includes wellness and screening services for chronic disease states including glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, body composition, and tobacco cessation, disease state coaching, pharmacist based prescribing, as well as a wide variety of immunizations and travel medicine. In addition, medication therapy management, synchronization programs, and collaborative drug therapy agreement programs provide pharmacists with the opportunity to work with other health care professionals to help patients better manage their health.
Division/District Offices Fred Meyer is headquartered in Portland, Oregon. The employees at this location provide leadership and support to all of the Fred Meyer stores.
