Mercy Medical Center (MMC) Pharmacy Residency Program offers a comprehensive learning experience in a community hospital setting that allows residents to develop patient care, practice management, and leadership skills. Residents are involved with the precepting of IPPE/APPE University of Iowa College of Pharmacy students. MMC has an integrated team based pharmacy practice model with pharmacists as the medication experts working with interprofessional team members. The Pharmacy Department utilizes Epic as the electronic health record and incorporates robotic technologies to support drug distribution. Required rotations include: Critical Care/Pediatrics, Cardiac/Stroke, Internal Medicine, Surgical, Management, Resident Development and Anticoagulation and Infectious Disease with elective options including Emergency Department, Oncology, Hospice/Palliative Care, Ambulatory Clinic.
Pharm.D. from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy, legally eligible for employment in the United States for duration of residency program, and Iowa pharmacist licensure by Sept. 15th. Applications submitted via PhORCAS must include curriculum vitae, academic transcript, letter of intent, and 3 letters of recommendation. Employment is contingent on health screen (including but not limited to health history, immunization status, TB test, urine drug screen) and background check(s).
