The PGY2 pediatric residency at Children’s Mercy Kansas City allows the resident to build on previous PGY1 residency experiences with the availability of a wide variety of required and elective rotations. Graduates of this program will develop advanced clinical training in pediatric pharmacotherapy and will be prepared to enter practice as a clinical pharmacy specialist. The resident’s experience can be tailored to their specific interests after completing approximately 5-6 months of required rotations in general pediatrics, neonatology, pediatric critical care, infectious disease, and hematology/oncology. CMKC is unique in that we have a wide variety of ambulatory care experiences available in a variety of pediatric specialties. We additionally offer more than dozen elective options, among those being antimicrobial stewardship, informatics, investigational drug services, medication safety, neurology, nutrition support, pulmonology, and pharmacogenetics. There are opportunities to precept pharmacy students and PGY1 pharmacy residents along with provision of didactic lectures at the UMKC College of Pharmacy in the Pediatric Elective course. All application materials should be submitted through PhORCAS to the Residency Program Director (RPD) by the deadline listed in PhORCAS. The PGY2-Pediatric program at CMKC adheres to the rules for the ASHP Pharmacy Resident Matching Program. The following is required of all eligible applicants: PharmD degree, completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency, letter of intent, curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, written essay, academic transcripts, and eligibility for pharmacist licensure in Missouri.

Children’s Mercy Kansas City (CMKC) is affiliated with the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine and is the principal teaching hospital for the University of Kansas Medical Center.
