The University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking a full time palliative medicine physician to serve as Medical Director for our expanding clinical program. Duties will include both inpatient activities as well as development of an outpatient program. Opportunities for teaching are available.
The Palliative Medicine Program at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is more than ten years old and is comprised of a team of MDs, RNs, NPs and a dedicated Clinical Pharmacist. The practitioners serve as expert palliative consultants to the UMMC's multi-disciplinary service teams, adding care quality and cost saving value. Supported by: Cancer Center Medical Director and Vice President; physician directors of our Medical and Surgical ICUs; Shock Trauma Center Director; Hospital Chief Medical Officer and Nursing leadership; Chairs of Internal and Family Medicine.
Quality: Routine collection of operational data; project integration with Medical ICU
Research: Strong foundation and support exists for grant funding to further interdisciplinary Palliative Medicine research.
Successful candidates will be board certified/eligible in Palliative Medicine, with a strong interest in teaching and clinical experience in Palliative Medicine.
