The American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics is an organization composed of biochemical, clinical, cytogenetic, medical and molecular geneticists, genetic counselors and other health care professionals committed to the practice of medical genetics. The ACMG was incorporated in 1991 to give national representation to providers of genetic services and their patients with genetic disorders and to speak for the emerging specialty of medical genetics in organizations and agencies concerned with medical service, certification, and regulatory issues. The ACMG provides education, resources, and a voice for the medical genetics profession and its’ mission is to improve health through genetics.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The mission of the Newborn Screening Translational Research Network (NBSTRN) is to improve the health outcomes of newborns with genetic or congenital disorders by means of an infrastructure that allows investigators access to robust resources for newborn screening research. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the NBSTRN administrative team supporting the management and coordination of a contract funded by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), National Institutes of Health (NIH). This position will work with the NBSTRN Project Manager to support meeting coordination, maintenance of project documents, and communication with external partners, researchers, and vendors. This groundbreaking project bridges private healthcare systems, public healthcare systems and Public Health programs with the goal of facilitating research to improve the health outcomes of newborns with genetic or congenital disorders.
Provides administrative support to the NBSTRN Project Manager and NBSTRN team
Oversees the NBSTRN Administrative Assistant and assists as necessary
Develops and maintains general content for the NBSTRN website
Tracks ongoing project lists and deadlines for NBSTRN
Collaborates with external team members to ensure that timelines are met
Assists the NBSTRN Project Manager in meeting coordination
Attends internal and external meetings as required, prepares and distributes meeting summaries
Gathers and organizes supplemental materials for meetings and conferences
Staffs the NBSTRN exhibit booth at conferences and meetings as needed
Assists with the content development for the monthly NBSTRN Newsletter
Maintains database records, distribution lists, calendars and electronic filing system
Works with other departments (meetings, finance) to complete projects
Excellent oral and written communication skills (including proofreading abilities)
Exceptional organizational skills, a proactive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills
Bachelor’s degree in genetics, biology, or public health related
2-3 years of project coordination or relevant experience required
Demonstrates consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite products
Travel to local 1 or 2 day meetings as well as ACMG Annual Meeting. Additional travel may include up to 6 local or national meetings to support exhibit booth staffing.
BENEFITS AND SALARY
The hourly salary for this non-exempt, full-time position shall be commensurate with the candidate’s skill and experience. ACMG offers an excellent benefits package.
